Weekly Update and Things You Don't Want To Miss

Like most Virgos, I celebrate my birthday all season, so you'll have to excuse my mention of it eleventy billion times, but MY BIRTHDAY IS NEXT WEDNESDAY!

In case you missed it, I am giving away a special edition box set of The Broken Earth trilogy by NK Jemisin. You can enter here and you have until the end of the month to enter. (US only)

Our Women in Horror book club is reading The Possession of Alba Diaz by Isabel Cañas in September and I am giving away 5 copies. The winner will be selected Tuesday at 430pm PST. You can enter here. (US and Canada).

Our Good Day to Read Indigenous book club is reading Legendary Frybread Drive-in: Intertribal Stories in September.

Both bookclubs are held in Discord. If you aren't connected yet, you can connect through this page.

The community Discord is a great place to connect with other readers who enjoy reading diversely (even if you don't have time to participate in the bookclubs! There is literally a channel for everything (including HOT BOOK GOSSIP lol). If you are a paid member, you have access to a private paid member channel where we talk about all things publishing and you get to participate in some of the publishing decisions. Truly cool!

Speaking of paid members, people keep asking how best to support Boozhoo Books. Well, it's my birthday month, what a perfect time for you to upgrade! Why upgrade? A portion of your monthly fee goes into the production of the books. Yes, this means that the more paid subscribers I have, the more books we will be able to publish. We are currently approved to publish one book per year. My goal is to be able to publish four books per year. (2 women in horror, 2 books by Indigenous authors would be the ideal breakdown, but is very much dependent on the manuscripts submitted both directly and by agents). I also use a good portion of subscriber money to ship giveaways that are not held in conjunction with publishers. (the NK Jemisin in shipping directly from me, for example).

$5 subscribers will get ebook copies of all of our published books.

$12 and $25 will get physical copies and their names on the contributor page. (How freaking cool is that!)

If you can commit to subscribing for the entire year for $5 a month, it would be at the price of buying two hard cover books!

Other Ways To Support

Shop My Pango! I've still got 115 books listed and I'm trying to make money to pay for my October NY trip. If you didn't hear the news, I was accepted as a Content Creator for New York Comic Con! (While I get into the con for free, I'm still paying for travel expenses!) and luckily celebrating the releases of the new Bindery Books the same week! (It's a holiday week, so I will be shipping Weds August 27 (my birthday. yes, I'm going to the post office on my birthday LOL) and then not again until Weds, September 3. I've got a lot of great stuff listed and am adding new books every day!

Use the books tagged in one of my Bindery posts when you go book shopping online! Anytime you click on one of the books attached to these posts and go shopping, I earn a small percentage, even if you don't buy any of the books I listed. (And if you buy from bookshop dot org, you are also supporting Black Walnut Books, an Indigenous owned bookstore!)

Share This Community! If you're just not spending money right now, the easiest way to help is spread the word about this community and encourage your friends to join FOR FREE! I have a free follower goal of 10,000 and it is a BIG goal that I won't be able to reach without you. If you have friends that read diverse books, please encourage them to join!
