Hello Friends,

It's been a long time since I have done a public newsletter for updates!

Book Clubs

Are you in the book club? Join our reader Discord to join the conversation.

It is no secret that book club has been a struggle for me (many of us) this year. I've gone back and forth about giving it up completely, or focusing on just one over the other. In the end, I've decided to blend my book clubs for 2027:

Good Day to Read Indigenous and Women in Horror will now simply fall under Boozhoo Book Club.

We will alternate between an Indigenous read and a horror read each month for the year of 2027. I hate that I cannot keep up with both, because I feel like that means I'm doing less promotion for authors, but my ADHD is making it difficult to keep up with even one. I will be putting out recommended reading lists and new releases lists next year and something special for paid subscribers.

Paid subscribers will get to nominate books to vote on this week and then next week, the books will go public for a vote. We are choosing are books in advance (meaning we will mostly be reading backlist to allow folks to check out the books from the library in time) and all of the books will be announced once selected (so you can get those holds in!) Two months are already filled with books from our imprint!

Cracks by Kristy Park Kulski releases 4/27/27 and will be our May selection

REDACTED by REDACTED releases 10/27/27 and will be our November selection (Yes, I've been keeping secrets! And I'm hoping I can announce this one soon!)

Publishing Updates

2027

1. Cracks by Kristy Park Kulski, 4/27/27

2. Redacted by Redacted, 10/27/27 (announcing soon! first kickoff meeting is next week!

2028

1. The Matchmaker of Club Street by Meihan Boey, 2/22/28, we just had our kickoff meeting for Matchmaker and it's so exciting! I cannot wait for our cover meeting. Matchmaker is set in the same world as Meihan's previous series. I just started the first book The Formidable Miss Cassidy and it's so good, I encourage you all to pick it up!

2. Redacted by REDACTED, early 2028 I cannot wait to announce this!

3. UNKKNOWN by UNKNOWN, unknown 2028

I am still reading manuscripts and have moved away from seasonally acquiring to always acquiring the best stories for me.

I am currently looking for

• Indigenous adult horror, mystery/thriller, coming of age - but will read all Indigenous submissions

• Thriller/Horror written by BIPOC women

Paid subscribers can expect more frequent publishing updates moving forward now that I have a better sense of schedule.

WHAT FEEDS BELOW AARDVARK WINNERS

MAIL CLUB

The sign up google form for the end of the year mail club will go out this week. This will be the last snail mail club open to $5 subscribers. 2027 moves to MONTHLY MAIL for $12 and up subscribers. Mail club is open to international subscribers as well.

READING SPRINTS AND READATHONS AND JOURNAL CLUB

I would love to move back into regular cadence for reading sprints and weekend readathons and journal club (where we just set an hour and journal together!). If these interest you, please show up and participate! This space is what we all put into it.

CALL TO ACTION

I have big goals for 2027 including doubling the size of my membership and I need your help. As you know, paid subscribers are the reason we get to publish these stories. The stories being publishing by Boozhoo Books are diverse, necessary stories written by voices that deserve to be heard. Help me make sure that they are. Subscription fees in part go into the production of the books we publish. If you won't miss it, please consider upgrading to a $5 membership.

TODAY: Free subscribers are also a vital part of our reader community. Can you each convince one of your mutuals on social media to join our community for free?
